The model of the head table lamp was first created in plaster around 1933-1934 and later cast in a bronze edition. The lamp comprises, at its tip, an androgynous head with stylised shoulders, and a ruff motif at the base. In the same period, Alberto Giacometti also used this motif of an androgynous figure with stylised shoulders on a floor lamp. This lamp is in keeping with the production of decorative arts objects and particularly with table lamps, that Alberto Giacometti created for the interior designer Jean-Michel Frank in the Thirties.
