A Tony Ortega artist’s proof ‘Los Trabujulores’. The print depicts several field workers bent over the soil in a brightly colored landscape, wearing vivid clothing. The colors are blue, yellow, orange, red, brown and dark purple. The artist proof print is signed in pencil to the lower margin area, with the title at lower left, and the artist’s signature, ‘Ortega 86’, at lower right. The print is on heavy paper, and is unframed. Anthony ‘Tony’ Ortega (American, born 1958) is a well-listed artist from Colorado, whose work includes painting, etching, drawing and printmaking. Ortega received an MFA in drawing and printmaking from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and is currently a professor of printmaking at Regis University, Denver, Colorado. He received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts in 1999, and the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts in 1998. He has been a member of Artnauts (an artist’s collective, established in 1998 by Dr. George Rivera, professor of art at the University of Colorado-Boulder) since 1996. Mr. Ortega’s work is in the collections of The Denver Art Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum, and Colorado Springs Fine Art Center, among others, and his work has been exhibited across the United States, Latin America and around the world.
