A Mid Century Modern Design Research custom walnut dining room table. Features a simple design with an oval rectangular shape with curved corners. The top rests on four tapered legs featuring a simple slight skirt connecting the legs. The table includes two leaves and table pads for each section. Crafted for Design/Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the late 1950s. Design/Research is best known for bringing affordable European modern, especially Scandinavian design furniture, furnishings and clothing to the US market in the 1950s and 60s, and it was an early precursor to stores such as Crate and Barrel and Design Within Reach.
Condition
Some light scratches and dents noted on the top and near the bottom of the legs, wear is commensurate with age. The wood has taken on a variety of tones from age and looks lighter on one end.
