A collection of 1940’s Maurice Seymour Chicago actress photographs. The Maurice Seymour brothers were famous photographers in New York and Chicago from 1929 into the 1970’s. One brother in each city, the Chicago Maurice Seymour (they both shared the same name) focused on dance and theatrical photography. This collection is an excellent example of that work which typically centered on beautiful women of the stage, especially ballerinas and dancers. Each photo has the studio signature in either the lower left or right corner and the envelope is marked in the upper left corner ‘Maurice Seymour Camera Portraits Roof Garden Studio St. Clair Hotel Chicago, Phone Delaware 2250.’
