Edward Steichen Gelatin Silver Print "The Blue Sky"
Item Details
A framed silver gelatin photograph by well-listed photographer Edward Steichen (Luxembourg/New York, 1879 – 1973), titled The Blue Sky, taken in Long Island, New York in 1923, posthumously printed from the original negative between 1984 and ’86 by George Tice, with the authorization and approval of Joanna T. Steichen. The captured image is stunningly serene and strangely poignant, depicting a woman laying in harsh, stiff grass, grasping on to it as she looks up to the sky. This photograph is matted in white, behind glass, in a composite black frame. A label to the verso is signed by Tice and Joanna Steichen.
