Print ‘Conversations d’Avocats’ from the series ‘Les Gens de Justice’ by Honore Daumier (circa 1845-1848).
Lithograph in black and white. Title on the stone on lower left side, title of the series on the stone on upper left side, monogrammed ‘H.D.’ on the stone lower right side. At the foot of the image at the right side in pencil: ’d’H Daumier’ and at the left side a justification: ‘332/500’.
Between March 1845 and October 1848 Daumier published his series ‘Les Gens de Justice’ (‘The lawyers’) in the satirical periodical ‘Le Charivari’. The series consisted of 39 prints, with an additional two that were published elsewhere, and another one that was not published at all. This ‘Conversations d’Avocats’, however, seems not to have figured in this series, as it appears from the enumeration on http://www.daumier-register.org.
