Vintage 1940s German Military Jeep Lighter and Ashtray Set

A vintage 1940s German military jeep lighter and ashtray set. This unique aluminum lighter set includes two lighters, a small one with the igniter stowed in its roof, and a larger one with an ashtray trailer and its igniter stowed in its hood. The larger one’s roof opens on a hinge and has cigarette storage. Both igniters are spring-loaded and open with a button on the side of the jeeps, they are also both marked on the bottom ‘Baier Ges. Gesch.’ These items were created between 1948 and 1949 in honor of the western militaries during the Berlin Airlift when the Allied Forces supplied food for occupied Berlin after the second world war. After the war the German air force were required to deconstruct their aircrafts and these lighters and items like them were made from that material.
