An original oil and acrylic on canvas abstract painting by New York/Los Angeles contemporary artist William Quigley (b.1961), painted in 2007. The painting depicts an abstraction of colors and words. The artist combines thick strokes of color with thinner moving brushstrokes layered on top, fields of text are layered on top and underneath the colors in varying fonts. The painting is initialed and dated to the lower right. It is presented stretched without framing. There is a personal note to the verso with the artist’s name and date of the painting.
Quigley, ‘a cultural catalyst’ was honored by VHI as artist of the year in 2007. His career was launched when his work was in juxtaposition of Andy Warhol in one of his last shows ‘Images of a Child’s World’ in 1985 at McNeil Gallery in Philadephia. He found the AB Gallery in Los Angeles in 1994. He is widely known for his celebrity portraits.
