Napoleon III Boulle-Work Card Table

Item Details

A fine French Napoleon III card table, having brass and tortoise shell inlay, known as ‘boulle work’. The serpentine top, covered in inlay, lifts to an inlaid border and red felted playing surface with an inlaid backgammon board, appearing to have been a more recent addition. The front and side aprons are inlaid with cast gilt brass ormolu, on cabriole legs, which terminate into cast foliate feet. The interior well is veneered in rosewood. Circa 1860.
