Louis Icart Print "Butterfly Woman"

An offset lithographic reproduction print after the original hand-colored aquatint etching by very well-listed and famed Louis Justin Laurent Icart (1888 – 1950), created circa 1940, titled Butterfly Woman. The print depicts a stunning nude woman standing with her arms spread as massive orange, pink, and black butterfly wings spread behind her. She is set against a dark background. The print is signed in-plate to the lower right. It is double-matted in metallic gold and black and is presented behind glass in a rounded wood frame with gilt finish. Icart was born in Toulouse and died in Paris, but lived in New York City in the 1920s, where he became known for his sensuous Art Deco colored etchings of women.
