Noritake/Nippon Hand Painted Vase and Lobed Pottery Spoon Rest

A fabulous hand painted Noritake/Nippon ceramic vase with a continuous landscape scene, circa 1911-1921. With a center square neck and four square arched handles, this vase is detailed with raised enameled paint along the handles and upper border. The pastel landscape scene with watercolor imagery continuous around the vase on all four panels. It is marked ‘Hand painted Nippon’ with laurel wreath and center ‘M’ in a green stamp on the base. Mark indicates vase is early 20th century, a version used by the famous Japanese porcelain company Noritake, estimated between 1911-1921. Nippon is used for ‘Japan’, and Noritake’s use of the initial ‘M’ date back to when Baron Ichizaemon Morimura IV originally formed the trading company. This set also includes a three lobed pottery spoon rest, marked ‘Germany’ on the base, and painted in brown tones.
