Ancient Sumerian Cuneiform Tablet

An ancient Sumerian cuneiform tablet. This circa 2300 B.C. burned clay tablet was exhumed from the ruins of the ancient city of Drehem, just outside of Nippur, the oldest Sumerian city, located in present-day Iraq. This tablet is inscribed with Babylonian cuneiform script contracting the sale of an unspecified number of sheep. Similar cuneiform tablets are held by the Louvre, The British Museum, The National Museum of Iraq, and numerous other museums and private collections. This particular tablet is mounted on a brass and acrylic display stand and encased in a beveled edge acrylic case on an ornate gold tone frame. Included is a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Patricia Brams, President of Paper Treasures, Inc.
