A Maddox Tables drop-front secretary desk. This Chippendale style desk has a ribbon striped mahogany veneer finish Displays a serpentine front of four drawers with brass bail pulls and rests on claw-and-ball feet. The front drops down to create a writing surface while exposing the fitted interior of five small drawers with brass knobs and four slots on each side of the shell motif ‘prospect door’, which is the distinguishing feature of this desk. The “prospect door” has small columns on each side which are secret compartments for hiding valuables. Mahogany Association’s label is adhered to the third drawer and the Maddox Tables label is on the back of the desk. Includes skeleton key.
