Antique Elizabethan Style Ornately Carved Low Cupboard

Item Details

An antique Elizabethan style low cupboard or sideboard. This marble topped cabinet is richly carved with an ornate deep freize with center medallion, a drop down front door, and carved canted cabinet corners. The recessed door panel features a double shield decorated with what appears to be a rampant lion and rampant griffin. The interior features one wood shelf. This low cupboard sits on a separate elevated base with canted bracket feet, and is topped with a removable marble surface. It is reported that the cabinet belonged to the Closson family and is original to the house, and the marble added by the Straders.

Condition

There are three small drill holes in the rear of the unit probably not original with the piece. May have been used for electrical components.
