A handmade model of the Great Republic clipper ship. This wood and string model includes details such as the row boats, the Jacob’s ladders, the anchor, the portholes, and the rigging. It replicates the largest wooden clipper ship ever constructed. The Great Republic was launched in 1853, had a 19-year merchant career, and set a record for 413 nautical miles around Cape Horn in a one day.
