Pre-Columbian Figural Sculpture

A Pre-Columbian figural sculpture, attributed to Nayarit, Jalisco, Mexico and dated 300 A.D. The piece is constructed of red clay without glaze with variations in tonality. The piece shows a seated stylized nude figure with tribal headpiece and earrings. There are no markings on the piece. This piece was evaluated by Lowell Collins of Houston, Texas in 1981 and deemed authentic.

Condition

- chipped right hand and left leg, broken at neck but repaired, consistent with age.
