Pair of Antique Stoneware Jugs
Item Details
A pair of antique stoneware jugs. The antique jugs are made of wheel-thrown stoneware clay, and have been glazed and fired. The larger, three-gallon jug, is made of a very light stoneware with a translucent gloss glaze, with the number ‘3’ painted on the side in cobalt blue. The shorter jug is made of a buff-colored stoneware, which has been glazed and salt-fired. The sides taper gently outward toward the top. There is a slightly flared neck at the top, to which a handle is attached. The jug is unmarked, but is made to hold approximately one gallon.
