An engraved print of a merian map of 1615 Paris. Map depicts a bird’s eye view looking East and includes the’ town, city, university and suburbs with description of its antiquities and particularities’. This is written in french at the top as ‘Le Plan De a Ville Cite Vniverste, Favxborvgs De Paris Avec La Decription De Son Antiqvite’. Map alos includes portraits of the king, courtiers, nobles and merchants as well as the queen, commoners, peasants and ladies of the court. Four lines of verse are printed under Grange Batelliere’s farm with the name of the author of the map in the lower right corner, Matheus Merian Basellensis. Map also features a compass rose in the River Seine. Full color map on thick paper framed in beveled wooden frame under glass with gold tone accent.
