A Michael Sloan print. This item features an offset lithograph depicting a waterfall with trees and a river in the foreground and is titled Spirit of the Smokies at the center below the image. The offset lithograph is signed within the image in the lower left corner but is also signed by the artist in pencil in the white margin below the lower left corner. This piece was numbered by the artist (317/1000) in the lower right corner.
Michael Sloan is a Tennessee artist who works in many different mediums: watercolor, oil painting, acrylics, pastels, and mixed media. He was named “Tennessee’s First Artist In Residence” in 1990 by the States’ General Assembly for his painting “The Pride of Tennessee”, which symbolized Tennessee’s bicentennial of statehood. Sloan’s most current accolade was the addition of his painting “Top of the Narrows” to the permanent art collection of Nashville’s Music City Convention Center.
