An early 19th Century aquatint print by Philibert-Louis Debucourt of after work by Carle Vernet . This early 19th-century print depicts men on horses surrounded by a slew of hunting dogs. The print is titled to the bottom, Les chiens ayant perdu la trace. Dogs having lost the right scent with the original artist name to the bottom left and engravers name to the bottom right. The print is presented under glass with a red wood mat and green wood frame. Ready to hang.

French Napoleonic era painter and lithographer Antoine Charles Horace (Carle) Vernet (1758-1836) was the son of landscape painter Joseph Vernet and a prolific battle scene painter commissioned by Napoleon. Vernet mostly focused his talents on hunt, nature, and equestrian subjects.

Philibert-Louis Debucourt, (1755–1832) was a French painter, engraver, and leading maker of multi-plate color prints.

Condition

Frame has a drill hole to the top and bottom. Some scratches throughout frame.
