Victorian Broadwood Grand Piano
Item Details
A resplendent British Victorian John Broadwood and Sons short drawing room grand piano, circa 1868-1875, covered in rich burlwood veneer, a gorgeous piece. Manufactured of the finest materials, with an early straight – strung soundboard, the piece features shaped and grooved moldings, a bifurcated fall board cover, resting on three heavy paneled legs with lobed melon blossom turnings, with a carved lyre shaped damper pedal support, the unusual feature of brass escutcheons, ebony and ivory keys, delicately scrolled and pierce carved music rack. A sensational instrument, in need of some restoration, but well worth the efforts.
