1930s Amos 'N Andy Taxi Tin Wind Up Car

A circa 1930s, Louis Marx Amos & Andy ‘Fresh Air Taxicab’ tin litho mechanical windup toy. This toy is from the famous comedy character team of Amos & Andy played by Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll in the popular 1930 movie “Check & Double Check”. This toy features celluloid windshield, horseshoe hood ornament and taxi toll flag. The body of the car is orange with black running boards. Both rear doors read “Amos ‘n’ Andy” and “Check and Double Check”. The hood reads “Fresh Air Taxicab Co of America Incorporated”. The back of the car reads “Original and Genuine Authorized Fresh Air Taxicab” and has the facsimile signatures of Amos n Andy Copyright Correll & Gosden Licenced Applied for Time After Time Made By Louis Marx & Co New York USA. Includes a letter from Louis Marx & Company, dated 1930, about the purchase of this toy. Comes with a display case.
