1869 Swiss Vetterli Rifle

Item Details

A model 1869 Vetterli rifle, made in Switzerland. The Vetterli rifle was developed in 1867 and in its various iterations it was the service rifle of the Swiss military from 1869 to circa 1890. It features a bolt action combined with a tube magazine (magazine not included). It also has flip-up sights, a textured grip, and a loop to the stock for a strap. The barrel is 32.5’ long. The item is marked with various inspection marks and serial or part numbers.

Working condition could not be fully tested at the time of cataloging. The bolt and associated mechanism does move but needs lubrication.

Condition

- metal and wood discoloration, minor scuffs and other cosmetic damage consistent with age; working condition could not be fully tested.
