Antique Chinese Kitchen Cabinet
Item Details
An antique Chinese kitchen cabinet. In a rich patina of dark stained wood, this Chinese kitchen cabinet has four doors with fretwork to allow air to pass through to keep the fruits and vegetables fresh. They open to reveal the inside, including two doors in the center of the cabinet and two narrow doors on each side. Doors are attached to the cabinet via wooden pins, which allow the doors to be easily removed. Doors include detailed open fretwork on the upper panels with rounded-front square spindles, and carved lower panels. There is one new unstained interior shelf that is not original, and additional storage that continues below the bottom of the doors. A clean round hole in has been made in back for electronical cords. The cabinet is detailed with a low rounded edge crown molding, a side panel design that matches the front doors, and is raised on four legs. The wood is thought to be elm, cedar, or possibly fir with a red stain.
Condition
Wear consistent with age and use. Missing lower molding near right front leg. Brass door ornament is missing.
