Thom Shaw Artist's Proof Woodblock "Hegemony Hidden Fury"

An original 2001 Artist’s Proof woodblock print on paper by well-listed Cincinnati painter and illustrator Thom Shaw (1942-2010), titled Hegemony Hidden Fury. Shaw is best known for these black and white woodcuts which graphically depict the horrors of inner-city life. This emotive commentary on domestic violence depicts the silhouettes of two children looking own as a couple, presumably their parents, aggressively fight. The print is signed and dated in pencil to the lower right. It is labeled “A/P,” or “Artist’s Proof,” in pencil to the lower left. The print is mounted on white foam core and is wrapped in acetate. The piece is unframed, awaiting your choice of presentation. A small gallery tag on the verso gives the piece’s title and date. More information about the artist can be found under Related Links.
Condition
- paper is slightly yellowed. Warping is visible across the print. Rippling has formed in corners where print is taped to foam core mounting. A few stickers are attached across the acetate.
