Victor Vasarely (1906 – 1997) was an active artist throughout France and Hungary. He is known for his geometric images and is the father of the Op Art movement. Vasarely is unique in that he has a Baccalaureate degree in medicine from Budapest University. After abandoning this practice, he attended the Muhely academy during the heart of the Bahaus movememt. Vasarely was strongly influenced by artists such as Kandinsky. His work explores both two-dimensional surfaces and complex color patterns.
