1933 "National Recovery Administration" New Deal Neon Sign
Item Details
A 1933 neon standing sign for the National Recovery Administration. The NRA was enacted in 1933 by Franklin Delano Roosevelt as part of the New Deal in order to write codes for fair competition in American industry. This paper sign is mounted in a metal standing frame and lined with neon lights. It features an image of the Blue Eagle, the symbol of the National Recovery Administration, used to show compliance with the 1933 National Industry Recover Act. The Blue Eagle clutches both a gear and a lightning bolt in its talons, symbolic of the power and industry that the NRA sought to restore to the country. These signs were displayed in businesses to show faithful compliance to the fair market practices enacted by Roosevelt as part of the New Deal. Tested and works.
