An original mid-century oil on canvas landscape painting by 20th century Canadian painter Carl Madden. The painting uses heavy impasto to create a dense forest scene made up of a tangle of snow-capped branches, leaves, and grasses. A small stream cuts through the center of the image, fading into the foreground. The painting is signed in black to the lower right. It is presented in a wide wooden frame with bronze-toned finish and a stripe of black velvet trim. A sawtooth hanger is attached to the verso.

Condition

-craquelure across pain, consistent with age. Extensive scratching and paint loss across the frame.
