Item Details
A set of two vintage framed patriotic pieces of art. Included in the lot is an eglomise type piece titled ‘Mount Vernon’ and signed Kaiser in a black wood frame, depicting a late 18th century gathering on the lawn at George Washington’s home. Also with this lot is chromolithograph, ‘The Spirit of America’ published by Gutmann & Gutmann, New York. The piece depicts a young boy in the early 20th century with a flag above him and the text of the Pledge of Allegiance underneath. The text of the Pledge of Allegiance does not have the phrase, ‘Under God’ included as it was not added until 1954. The print is under glass in a black wood frame.
Condition
Some debris under glass of “Spirit of America” and backing paper torn. Chips to frames. Wear consistent with age and use.
