1920 Rookwood Art Pottery Peacock Bookends

A matching pair of Rookwood Pottery peacock bookends in a blue-green matte glaze. These lovely figural bookends feature a flamboyant peacock with tail feathers widespread, the bird standing atop a round tiered dais with columned fence to the back of the peacock. Designed by William Purcell McDonald, the bookends are hallmarked to their base with the traditional Rookwood flame mark, mold number 2445 and Roman numeral date XX (1920).

—one bookend has a tiny chip to the center front of the dais
