Vintage Catholic Priest Portable Mass Kit

A vintage Catholic priest portable Mass kit. The kit would often travel to hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutions or private homes where practicing Catholics could receive the Eucharist and Mass. The kit includes the liturgical Roman Missal book with gilt-edged pages and red covers with gilt Holy Communion image, published in 1964 by Catholic Book Publishing Company in New York under Archbishop Francis Cardinal Spellman. Also included are a gold plate chalice and cup, an engraved paten, a Holy Water dispenser, corkscrew, and a pair of candle dampers. Also includes a bess with giraffe finial, an unopened package of Communion wafers, and a Communion holder. A leather belt finished in black holds a Franciscan Rosary with fifteen decades and a crucifix. The beads of the rosary are black plastic and held together by a silver toned chain. The contents of the kit are housed in a wooden box with black painted finish, with three separate compartments for storage.
Condition
- items have been used. Chalice is unwashed and the Communion holder has residue from previous uses from the Communion wafer. The Roman Missal has wear to the cover and to the bindings, especially the front and back boards from storage in the black box. The inside flyleaf is stamped and dated with a Father’s name.
