A limited edition helical hairspring demonstrative escapement, numbered 198 of 250 worldwide, designed in Germany. The escapement is a demonstration of how a helical escapement (found in many fine and Swiss timepieces) works. Each piece of the escapement is hand milled, with hand blued screws and jewel toned insets. The chrome-plated base is hand engraved ‘Demonstrative Escapement Helical Hairspring, No. 198.’ The works sit under a clear glass globe. When wound, the escapement operates for approximately five days, simply rocking back and forth, making a pleasing metronomic ticking sound. The gleaming ebony base rests on three turned silver-toned metal feet, with the winding mechanism to the underside.
