Pair of Louisville and Nashville Railroad Equipment Trust Plaques
Item Details
A pair of metal L&N railroad equipment trust signs. These signs note the United States Trust Company of New York, the oldest American trust company, as the financiers and then owners of the locomotives to which these plaques were affixed, agreed upon by a ‘Series L’ Equipment Trust Certificate. Once the assets were paid off in full by the railroad, generally after standard 15-year loans, ownership would transfer to the railroad itself. These are identical metal signs with raised font and painted black fronts. One plaque is marked A23375 on the backside.
