An original plein air painting in acrylic on stretched canvas titled Carmel by California artist Juan Guzman-Maldonado (born in Chile 1948 and moved to California in 1972). The expressive painting displays the artist’s influence by Fauvism and his habit of painting with his fingers to create a painterly quality. The strong palette in mossy green and orange is evidence of his preference to paint at sunrise and sunset. The painting is signed at the lower right and on the back of the canvas.
