Antique Fashion Southern Calendar Clock Company Mantel Clock
Item Details
An antique Fashion mantel clock, manufactured by the Seth Thomas Clock Company in Connecticut and sold by the Southern Calendar Clock Company of St. Louis Missouri. The cabinet of the clock is walnut and features a single pane glass door with Fashion written in gilt writing. The top features three turned finials. The top face reads patented December 28th, 1875. The top face has a white ground with black roman numerals and black hands and a second face with a black hand. The bottom face is a calendar and has a spot for the day and month and reads patented March 18th, 1879. The key is present and the clock is accompanied by a photocopied ‘Fashion Magazine’. These magazines were produced as the original marketing materials for the traveling salesmen that sold these clocks. This clock matches item 16LEX114-047.
The key is present and works, but no testing was done of its time keeping ability.
Condition
The faces show slight finish loss and the bottom has some scratches. The top right finial has been broken.
