A limited edition offset lithograph titled Jelly Fish Eyes by contemporary Japanese artist Taksashi Murakami (1962- ), produced in 2001. The print features bright green eyes of varying sizes against a peachy flesh colored background. This print is number 54 in an edition of 300. It is signed and numbered in marker to the lower right. The title and publishing information is printed in red to the lower center. Presented behind anti-glare glass in a rounded black frame; ready to hang. Murakami is an internationally recognized contemporary artist who is known for blurring the lines between high and low art. He studied Nihonga, the ‘traditional’ style of Japanese painting, earning a PhD from Tokyo University of the Arts. He coined the term ‘superflat’, which is used to describe both the aesthetic characteristics of the Japanese artistic tradition and the nature of post-war Japanese culture and society. Murakami is the founder and President of Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd., through which he manages the careers of several younger artists and organizes the biannual art fair GEISAI.
