Mexican 860 Silver Altar Cross with Semi-Precious Stone Cabachons

A circa 1940’s Mexican 860 silver altar cross with semi-precious stone cabochons. It is encrusted with semi-precious stones of turquoise, carnelian and coral. It is an interesting piece with doves above and dangling angels under the cross piece. The artist was Matilde Eugenia Poulat, ‘Matl’ as she was known, considered one of the forerunners in the Mexican Silver Rennaissance. The piece is marked ‘Matl / 0860’ to the verso.
