A photographic print of Chief Joseph and his family, originally taken circa 1880. This photographic print depicts a portrait of the famous Chief and his family shortly after they were forced to surrender millions of acres of tribal land to the U.S. government to pursue the hunt for gold, and also taken captive after a 1,400-mile pilgrimage to reach Canada’s border, just 40 miles short of their destination. This reproduction photograph tragically brings visualization to the pain and suffering of this Native family.
