Native American Style Turtle Bag
Item Details
A Native American style turtle bag. The bag is made of a whole turtle shell, likely a Common Snapping Turtle, with leather trim to create a carrying bag. The shell has been lashed together at the seams, and a leather flap has been added to cover the top opening, with a piece of antler attached as decoration. To one side, a leather thong has been attached with a sead bead and strands of what may be horsehair attached with a piece of tin. The strap can be worn over the shoulder and is quite long, with fringe and tin bell decoration, so that it makes a pleasing noise when moved. Unmarked.
