Jim Bozeman Rooster Art Pottery Plate
Item Details
An art pottery plate by Jim Bozeman with a rooster design. This rare piece of pottery is made by South Carolina artist Jim Bozeman (1956-2015), who practiced in the 19th-century Edgefield pottery style, which was used before the Civil War in Edgefield, South Carolina. The complicated process involves digging clay from bogs, which is then filtered before use, followed by accumulating natural materials for the alkaline glaze that is used on the pieces. Edgefield pottery pieces display a straw, light green, or dark green finish. This particular plate is painted with a rooster design to the center and is signed on the back ‘Bozeman Maker 7-97 N.C.,’ pointing to Bozeman’s time spent in the mountains of North Carolina.
