Antique 1873 "Trapdoor" Springfield Cadet Rifle

An antique Springfield cadet rifle model 1873, also known as the “Trapdoor” Springfield, was the first ‘breech-loading’ rifle used by the United States Army as a standard issue weapon. Marked to the side plate with an eagle symbol and ‘Springfield 1873’, and marked ‘Model 1873’ with an eagle and arrows symbol to the top. Metal and wood parts have a dark patina with no rusting.
