An original oil by listed artist Gustav Muss-Arnolt, American, 1858-1927, signed lower right. A well executed piece it depicts an English Setter, a sporting/hunting dog, a subject and area that Gustav Muss Arnolt specialized in. Gustav an American artist lived and worked in New York City. In the late 1800s he wrote and illustrated several articles for Harper’s Weekly and between May of 1895 and December of 1909 he successfully rendered 170 illustrations for The American Kennel Club Gazette. A impressive example of an English Setter, alert and poised with a black and white coloration, moving low through the grassy shrub-land. Presented behind glass in gold tone painted wood frame.
