Pair of Unframed Brass Rubbings of Medieval Tombs
Item Details
A pair of modern unframed brass rubbings of two burial monument plates found in English churches. The rubbings were made by laying a sheet of paper over an engraved brass memorial plaque (most made in the 14th or 15th centuries), and rubbing a crayon over its surface. These two depict a man and woman who seem to correspond, possibly a couple. They are rubbed onto thin black paper with a gold-toned metallic wax crayon. The prints are unframed, awaiting your choice of presentation. They are currently stored in a gold-toned cardboard tube.
