A seventeenth century indentured servant contract. This ink on vellum contract of indentured servitude appears to be between two men named William Ebery and Edward Pound. It is dated 1651. These indentured contracts typically outlined an agreement to work for another person for a defined period of time, usually without pay, but in exchange for free passage to a new country. During the seventeenth century many white laborers in Maryland and Virginia came from England as indentured servants. Professionally framed by the Huber Art Company, 120 W. 7th Street, Cincinnati, Ohio. Preserved under glass with wire to verso for hanging.

Consistent with age. Some warping of contract. Accretion to glass. Minimal foxing to vellum. Minor chips to edge of frame. Some separation of frame backing paper.
