An antique framed portrait. This framed portrait of a young man is a crayon portrait in a walnut frame. Crayon portraits were popular from 1860’s to the end of the century. They were made by a weak photographic image on matt board to serve as the base for the artist to use charcoal or colored chalks. This piece is done in charcoal. The frame is walnut with ornate floral design in plaster on wood.

Condition

There is damage on the frame.
