Slate Shingles from 1880 Home

Item Details

A collection of over sixty slate shingles, pieces and chips from an 1880 estate. According to the consignor, these slate shingles are from a Queen Anne style home that was built in 1880 for Pattie A. Field Clay whose husband was Brutus J. Clay II, son of Cassius Clay. Clay was an abolitionist and American ambassador to Russia during the American Civil War. He was from Lexington, Kentucky. The estate and grounds are now known as Lynwood in Richmond, Kentucky but are known historically as The Clay House. Most of the slate pieces are approximately 18.5×10′, and there are other odd sized pieces. See link below for more information on the house.

Condition

The shingles have holes in them, and many chips and breaks.
