Cast Iron Billiken Good Luck Bank

Item Details

A vintage cast iron bank fashioned after the Billiken, a character, originally created by the art teacher Florence Pretz of Kansas City, Missouri, which became something of a nationwide craze around the turn of the 20th century in America. Billiken dolls and figurines were bought and given as good luck charms. This cast iron bank has red paint to the Billiken’s famous sharp tuft of hair. Its two halves interlock, and can be secured together with a screw through a screw hole in the back. The piece reads, ‘BILLIKEN’ to one side, and ‘GOODLUCK’ to the other.
