An Army Commendation Medal, instituted 1945, was awarded for both war time and peace time achievement. This metal was a civilian version of the bronze star. This one was awarded some time between 1949 & 1964. The brass medal hexagon has an impression of an eagle on the front and ‘For Military Merit’ on the back with a place for a name. It is attached to a green and white striped ribbon. It hangs 3 inches.
