A hand-colored engraving by V. Cioni, titled, Macchina aerostatica di F. Carmine, Firenze 1788. The image depicts a whimsical scene of single man looking through a telescope, high in the air in a brightly colored striped hot air balloon, soaring above a picturesque town in Florence, Italy. Artist signature is printed in plate below border in left corner. Title is printed in lower center margin. Print is mounted behind mauve mat, under glass, in a beveled wood frame with gilt finish. A label to the verso lends additional information about this print.
Condition
- finish of frame is chipped and scratched in numerous area along edges.
