Red Jacket Wooden Model Ship

A wooden model of the clipper ship Red Jacket. The Red Jacket was a three masted clipper launched in 1853 that set a sailing ship speed record by sailing from New York to Liverpool in a mere 13 days. This ship model was handmade by Piel Craftsmen of Massachusetts. It features all wood construction and extensive authentic rigging. The upper hull is painted black while gold colored paint on the lower hull represents the copper cladding the original ship had. The model sits on a wooden stand with a brass name plate. The plate reads ‘RED JACKET Samuel H. Pook design. Built by George Thomas at Rockland, Maine in 1853 Model By PIEL CRAFTSMEN NEWBURYPORT, MASS.’ The model comes with original paperwork from Piel Craftsmen.
Condition
Rigging is tangled and tops of masts are broken.
